When I got home from work last night, Hubby handed me a cream coloured piece of paper that had been folded in half.
"I was going through some boxes today and found this. I got a real kick out of it and I bet you will too."
December 11, 1987
If things could be the way I wanted
Today would be a very special day indeed
There's be brightly wrapped boxes on this table
Filled with everything you'd ever want or need
There would be a brand new coat of finest wool
Single breasted, soft charcoal
There would be a classic suit
And a spiffy pair of leather boots
There would be Courvoisier
And a new guitar for you to play
There would be a late model car
So you could drive me near or far
There would be an easel
In oak or pine or teak
With the finest boards of canvas
And sable brushes sleek
There would be some flannel slacks
In shades of grey and brown and black
Matching sweaters in cashmere
And a lifetime supply of your favourite beer
But because I can't have my way
There are no presents here today
And though today is just routine--my finances are very lean
But my love for you is rich and full
And our life together is far from dull
So even though we'll use your money
Let's celebrate your birthday Honey!
I can't even afford to buy a card
And that for me is very hard
But I know that you don't really care
As long as we remain a pair
The joys in life and love are free
And you are very special to me
I'll make it up to you someday
Cuz I love you more than I can say.
Written by me on Hubby's 39th birthday.
So sweet. <3
